01 · The Challenge

State need for student career plan management system.

Career counseling is resource-intensive and difficult to scale, while existing job platforms lack the structure needed for long-term career planning.

Students were left without a consistent system to develop career plans, build application materials, and track progress over time.

The state needed something in between: a self-service web portal with the structure of a counseling session — a Career Action Plan, a résumé you can iterate on, a portfolio that follows you — owned by the public sector and free for any student.

02 · Our Approach

A tool that serves two audiences at once.

We designed a persistent, account-based platform that supports both student workflows and counselor-driven program delivery.

  • Unified student account for long-term career asset development
  • Tools for career planning, résumé iteration, and portfolio creation
  • Designed for multi-year engagement across education and workforce transitions
  • Parallel system enabling counselors to manage and update program content independently

The platform bridges the gap between one-on-one counseling and static job tools by creating a structured, repeatable workflow students can return to over time.

If counselors and students aren't empowered, we built the wrong thing.
03 · Architecture

CMS made easy

Developed a structured content system enabling non-technical staff to manage program delivery without engineering dependency.

  • Form-based content modeling for career paths, resources, and templates
  • Role-based access controls for counselors and administrators
  • Defined publishing workflows for content updates and iteration

This approach ensured the program could evolve continuously without requiring development cycles for routine updates.

04 · Outcome

Made To Last

The platform is actively used as a long-term career development tool across the student lifecycle.
